Event Planning
My role as Brown Center for Students of Color’s head Black Heritage Series coordinator centered around planning large-scale community-building events for Black students on campus. The events I spearheaded include but are not limited to the following: The Brown-RISD Black Arts Showcase, The Black Appreciation Dinner, and Black Wellness Day. The number of attendees for these events ranged form 50-300, averaging about 170 per event.

Black Arts Showcase
The 2022 Black Arts Showcase was an event that enabled the Brown community to come together to celebrate all of the talented Black creatives on Brown's campus. All forms of art were showcased, including performance art and visual art. Over 20 student artists across Brown and RISD's campuses.

The Black Appreciation Dinner
The Black Heritage Series planned this event in collaboration with The League of United Black Women, African Students Association, and Black Student Union are proud to collaborate to host the annual Black Appreciation Dinner. The Annual beloved event celebrates our ever-growing community and serves as a time to show love to the Senior class year as they prepare to embark on their journeys post-Brown. The theme for this year's dinner is: Building a Community Based on Legacy and Love. The event featured a catered dinner, performances, and Black joy.

Soul Food Night at the Ratty
The event is the cornerstone event of the Black Heritage Serie's Black History Month programming. The event takes place in Sharpe Refectory Dining Hall, is intended to celebrate the amazing food staples within Black American culture. There were numerous Black on-campus organizations and groups who were present and/or performing throughout the duration of the evening.

Refill Your Cup: A Day of Radical Relaxation
This event was put on in collabration with B-Well, Harambee House, and the Transfromative Justice Initaitive. Arts, crafts, yoga and other relaxation mechanisms were introduced in to order to encourage de-stress and healing among black students prior to finals.

The Nala Dinner
The Nala Dinner is an annual event held in collaboration between the African Students Association and the Black Heritage Series. The dinner is meant to honor the resilience of the African Diaspora and shed light on the stories of our Black ancestors through food, art, performances, and a mission to foster a community of love and care.

The Black Family Soirée
The First Annual Black Family Soiree was conceptualized by the Black Heritage Series and executed in collaboration with Harambee House and the Black Student Union. The event, complete with performances and food, helped welcome families of black students into Brown's Black Community.

Welcome Back Dinner
The welcome back dinnner showcased and honored the vibrant black culture within our Brown community through celebration, food, and vibrant performances. This dinner was designed to encourage new and returning students to become involved with the Heritage Series and other black organizations on campus.
